Events Specifications

1. All Events:

     1.1. The term Events is used here to denote festivals, workshops, seminars, competitions, performances, classes, conferences, congresses, parades or other gatherings.

     1.2. Use of the CID logo in connection with events is strictly forbidden.

     1.3. Exceptionally the CID logo can be used for events endorsed by CID

     1.4. Announcements of all events are posted at the CID Panorama, www.Panorama.CID-world.org

     1.5. The CID Secretariat does not organize events, it can assist CID Sections or other CID members that do.


2. Endorsed Events:

     2.1. Events can be endorsed by CID only if they:

          – are organized by CID Sections or institutional members,

          – are attended by a majority of CID members and

          – include an International Certification awarding ceremony

     2.2. Events endorsed by CID:

          – can use the CID logo (separately from other logos) together with the title Event Endorsed by the International Dance Council CID at UNESCO

          – are announced at the CID Panorama (1 million visits a year)

          – are announced in the CID Circular sent monthly to over 35,000 dance professionals in 200 countries

          – are posted at Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn or other social media accounts of CID

     2.3. Other advantages of endorsed events

          – Organizers can apply for support to the municipality, the region or state, the Ministry of Culture and other public agencies

          – The event, bearing the prestigious endorsement of CID, enjoys appreciation by private sponsors

          – More participants take part since they will be awarded the International Certification

          – The CID Secretariat can offer guidance in organizational matters

          – An official representative of CID can attend.

     2.4. Only events endorsed by CID can feature the CID logo. Using the CID logo or CID endorsement without permission is illegal. The CID logo cannot appear on certificates, diplomas, prizes or any other documents not printed by the CID Secretariat and signed by the President or the General Secretary of CID. Exceptionally the CID logo can appear on certificates attesting participation at an event endorsed by CID, after approval of the document.

     2.5. Endorsement is for one time only, it has to be renewed if the event is repeated. Endorsement is granted to a limited number of events each year, by formal letter only, printed, signed and stamped by the CID Secretariat.

     2.6. Endorsed events should:

          – Be open to all nationalities, without any discrimination based on religion, gender, race, political or other orientation, according to the principles of UNESCO and the United Nations.

          – Be open to all approaches to the specific kind of dance it is focused.

          – Give to all presenters equal time and conditions

          – Abstain from value judgements on participants.


3. World Congresses:

     3.1. CID World Congresses are events endorsed by CID. They have a prescribed schedule and specifications. These specifications as well as the list of CID Congresses are to be found at the general Congress website www.Congress.CID-world.org

     3.2. The most notable specifications of a CID World Congress are:

          – It is organized by a Section of the CID

          – It is focused on research or presentation of original works

          – It is global, having conferees from all 5 continents

          – It has a Scientific Committee

          – It is basically presential, requiring the physical presence of most conferees

          – It has lasts 5 days, Wednesday to Sunday

          – It can be focused on a specific form of dance or approach to dance.

          – It has a website where conditions are presented in detail.

          – Proceedings are published either in printed form or online.


4. International Conferences:

     4.1. CID International Conference are events endorsed by CID. Organizers follow the CID Congress pattern as far as possible but they can deviate from it if necessary.

     4.2. A CID International Conference follows the pattern of a CID World Congress, with the following differences:

          – It is not necessarily focused on research or presentation of original works

          – It can be national or regional in focus, though open to all countries

          – It does not necessarily have a Scientific Committee or other committees

          – It can have its own schedule, lasting any number of days

          – It can be focused on a specific form of dance or approach to dance

          – It can have a majority of online attendees

          – It does not necessarily have a website where conditions are presented in detail.

          – It does not necessarily have proceedings published in printed form or online

          – It is not necessarily organized by a Section of the CID.


5. Online Seminars and Teleconferences:

     5.1. Seminars usually have one speaker, a narrow subject area and a focus on teaching. They are similar to classes but are more compact, longer and addressed to advanced students or professionals.

     5.2. Teleconferences aim at presenting various views on a subject, have several speakers and allow much time to discussion.

     5.3. Both are organized by CID Sections, with assistance by the CID Secretariat.

          – Open to all, free of charge, provided they validate their email address and send their full data to the CID Secretariat

          – Duration of each session: 2 hours on average

          – Two or more speakers each time, then questions to them, discussion

          – One working language per session (no translating)

          – Program and details are similar to teleconferences (see specifications there)

          – Moderator can be the Section President or another CID Member with her approval

          – A Section can specialize in one or several themes

          – Announcement and proceedings (i.e. text or Powerpoint sent by the speaker) posted at the website of the Section and/or at CID Writings

          – Send announcement before the 12th of the month, plus poster and/or flyer (a flyer has much more text than a poster)

          – Design a poster and/or a flyer to post at social media (dimensions differ for Facebook, Instagram etc.). Send it to the CID Secretariat.

          – Attend seminars by other CID Sections to get ideas

          – Promote your seminar nationally, while CID promotes internationally. Success is measured mainly by the number of persons attending.
