THE DANCE OF THE ORIGINS - Saturday September 20 at 17:00 Paris time

ONLINE SEMINAR 20 September 2025: THE DANCE OF THE ORIGINS

Our first online seminar of the 2025-2026 season tries to answer fundamental questions: What do we know about prehistoric dances? How do we know this? Is the sacred dimension of these dances really predominant?

Gaudenzio Ragazzi, CID member, is an expert in prehistoric art, specializing in dance and gesture scenes from the iconographic repertoire of European and world prehistory. This is a topic on which he defended his philosophy thesis many years ago at the Catholic University of Milan. He is the author of several publications, including the book that bears the same title as the seminar.

Cher (s) ami(e)s

———————————————————————————

Dear friends,

The question of dance in Christian worship and beyond worship has been a fascinating topic throughout the history of the Church and is taking on a global dimension in contemporary times.
We have already dedicated about ten online seminars to the subject.

Sophie Lespinasse – who devotes her life, research, and heart to this subject- will introduce us to a great Christian mystic, Saint Teresa of Avila, who incorporated dance into her monastic life.
And more than that, after a brief historical summary, we will be surprised to learn – with testimonies  – that dance is indeed present in some monastic communities today!!…

For a taste read https://cid-ds.org/teresa-davila/

Come along to learn and marvel.
